Hypnotherapy for Anxiety in Scottsdale AZ

Anxiety is a common issue today, and it can often get in the way of you living your best life—and even take over your life. Anxiety may lead to sadness or depression, and hypnosis can help you feel better, as it will relax and calm you and help you feel you have more control.

There are different types of anxiety:

Social Anxiety

A person with social anxiety has an intense fear of being criticized, embarrassed or humiliated, even in everyday situations, such as speaking up at work, or making small talk.

General Anxiety

Most people feel anxious and worried from time to time, especially when faced with stressful situations like taking an exam, public speaking or going for a job interview. This sort of anxiety can make you feel alert and focused, helping you get things done faster or perform at your best.

People with a general anxiety can feel worried most of the time, not just during times of stress. Even minor things like being late for an appointment, makes them worry and think what if…? Imagining the worst, or leading to uncontrollable worries, and thinking something terrible may happen.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

A person with PTSD has experienced a traumatic event such as; war, assault, car accident, disaster, abuse. Symptoms can include flashbacks, difficulty relaxing, upsetting dreams, and avoidance of anything related to the event.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

A person has ongoing unwanted/intrusive thoughts and fears that cause anxiety. Logically, the person may acknowledge these thoughts as silly, they often try to relieve their anxiety by carrying out certain behaviors or rituals.

Fears & Phobias

A person with a phobia feels fearful about a particular object or situation, and may go to great lengths to avoid it. for example, having an injection, traveling on a plane, or driving on freeways.

There are many different types of phobias.

You may have a specific phobia if you:

  • have a persistent, excessive and unreasonable fear of a specific object, activity or situation, e.g. heights, the sight of blood or encountering a dog.
  • avoid situations where you may have to face the phobic stimulus, e.g. not walking down a street where there may be a dog. If the situation is unavoidable, you’re likely to feel high levels of distress.
  • find that the anxiety or avoidance associated with such situations makes it difficult to go about daily life (e.g. interferes with working, studying or seeing friends and family).
  • the anxiety and avoidance are persistent and have been present for at least 6 months or more

Specific phobias are generally divided into the following categories:

Animal type: fear that relates to animals or insects, for example: fear of dogs or spiders.

Natural environment type: fear associated with the natural environment, for example: fear of thunder or heights.

Blood/injection/injury type: fear associated with invasive medical procedures, for example: injections, or with seeing blood or injury.

Situational type: fear of specific situations, for example: elevators, bridges or driving.

Other: any other specific phobias, for example: fear of choking, fear of vomiting.
